Over 25 members of the Chamber visited the North Shields Marina http://www.quaymarinas.com/our-marinas/royal-quays/ at the Royal Quays to find out more about how the marina (including the boatyard) works. The event included a full tour of the marina including visits to the control tower, the pontoons and the newly upgraded facilities for visitors, with members hearing about how over 300 boats berthed at the marina use the facilities, how visiting boats can use the marina and the important role which the marina plays in supporting the North Shields fishing port. After the tour members enjoyed hospitality and some great food and drink at The Lock https://www.thelockquaysmarina.com/ and a huge thanks to Matt Simms and Brian Wilkes for providing us with all of the information on the how the marina works and entertaining us with some great stories.
Commentating on the visit Chamber Chair Miles Walton commented ‘It was great to hear of the recent investment in the marina, to hear how the marina works and to find out the important role which the marina plays in our local economy and we look forward to working with marina in the future to build stronger links with businesses in North Shields and to encourage visitors to the marina”.
If you have never visited the marina before, finding it is easy – just head for the Royal Quays, follow the signs for the ferry and then follow the signs for the marina where there is plenty of free parking.
