High Growth Start-up support
A Specialist Business Advisor to identify and work with new and pre start high growth businesses and assist with the package of support necessary for them to achieve full potential. The package of support will include one to one intensive support with our high growth specialist, access to a range of topical workshops, direct referral to other premium support such as Start and Grow.
Within this programme we have defined a high growth businesses start-up as having a predicted turnover of £150,000 in the first 12 months of trading.
This package of support is available to our SME communities in North Tyneside who have the potential to grow and create jobs.
The package of support includes seminars, workshops and one to one assistance in the following subjects:
Procurement Support accessing the NEPO Portal and assistance with tender writing
Property Guidance on how to negotiate with commercial landlords and understanding leasing agreements etc
Marketing Assistance with developing marketing plans, marketing materials and selecting the most appropriate marketing methods to identify and target customers
Branding Practical help to brand or re brand your business effectively, including logo and promotional material design support.
Sales How to find new customers, win new sales and most of all help to sell ‘your’ business to the right target market.
Public Relations Assistance to help you plan your own PR activities- identifying the best ways to reach your customers and work out what messages you wish to convey.
Social Media Practical help creating, improving and scheduling of all social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
ICT Assistance with identifying and using various software and applications and assistance with websites, SEO and email marketing.
EBay Support with e-commerce for business and selling on e-bay
3 D Printing Help with designs (conceptual drawings) and printing of prototypes.

A social enterprise is a business which can measure social impact and will re-invest profit for the good of the community.
This element of the programme is delivered by a specialist Social Enterprise Business Advisor to raise awareness of Social Enterprise and support our existing social enterprises in the borough.
Included will be awareness events around the pros and cons of setting up a Social Enterprise and different legal structures including co-operatives and mutuals.
Tailored one to one diagnostic sessions to determine that the viability and organisation structure supports your proposed social enterprise and continued support to enable you to start.
For existing Social Enterprises specialist support with growth and job creation to enable individuals/groups make informed choices with their development needs
The Business Factory has been offering Social Enterprise support now for a number of years. During the years 2009 to 2012, six social enterprises were set up.
In 2012, North Tyneside Council took the decision to include a separate bespoke Social Enterprise programme within the main programme, and procured a specialist organisation to deliver it.
The results were excellent and over 40 Social Enterprises were set up with a combined turnover of nearly £1,000,000 in their first year.

North Tyneside Business Forum
The North Tyneside Business Forum is a one-stop-shop for businesses based in North Tyneside to help the borough’s SME base survive, grow and expand.
Any and all business issues can be swiftly channelled in the right direction and addressed by the appropriate person or organisation. The Business Forum can put you straight to the heart of local and regional business by accessing the most relevant networks, mentors and experts.
Working with companies of all sizes and across all sectors, it’s our aim to create a supportive network to ensure local business is well connected within the North Tyneside area.

The North Tyneside Business Forum have a dedicated website, regular e-bulletins, a quarterly Business Update, and a year-round events schedule which all start-up and existing businesses can access.
The Business Forum works closely with the North East Growth Hub to ensure support for business in the North East is simplified. Both the Business Factory and the Business Forum regularly use the Growth Hub to support businesses across the region and direct North Tyneside businesses to the wealth of information on the Growth Hub’s website.
