We are pleased to report that new lighting columns have been installed in Railway Street, free parking has been resumed in Stephenson Street and that discussions are ongoing with local Councillors and Council officers regarding further improvements to the town centre, such as pedestrianisation of the lower end of Bedford Street and new street furniture.

As part of the regeneration plans the Council has agreed to look at improving the access and appearance of North Shields town centre. The town centre manager will be painting the street furniture in the near future and in the long term there may be funding available to replace the bins and seats.
